The search is on to find America's Top Dog Model and the competition organizers are holding an open “casting call” in Palm Beach, Florida next month. Those that can't attend ‘in person' will no doubt be sending glossy portfolios of their pup pictures in the hope of being picked to take part in the finals.

There's no question about it, doggy models are big business! They are not only being used to model pet fashions but are appearing in general ads in magazines and on TV too.

Two of my favorite canine super models are Yorkshire Terriers Paris Noel and Bella LaRue. They are being hailed the Gisele Bunschen and Heidi Klum of the pet fashion world. Their little faces are everywhere and they are in very high demand by canine couturiers because they know how to strike a pose and hold it! These pictures of Paris Noel say it all.

Naturally like all famous faces, they have a website, their own range of merchandize, a pin-up calendar and a My Space page too. You simply have to go on-line to see Paris Noel's bedroom! littleparisnoel.com .

Currently the top earning doggy super model in the world is Woongja, a seven year old American cocker spaniel who lives in Korea. She's earned about $17 000 as the spokes doggy for a Korean pet product supply company and a further $50 000 for being Pfizer's spokes pup model for a year.

On the other side of the coin, dogs from all over the country are also getting ready for the World's Ugliest Dog Contest which once again will be held at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California in June. Last year, 18 dogs from all over the country came to compete for the title that went to Archie, a Chinese Crested from Arizona.

As far as I am concerned, there is no such thing as an ugly dog. These contestants are just plain cute! I would love to be invited to judge.
